Saving the Water Network in Oliena

Hitachi undertakes a ground-breaking project to preserve the traditional community of Oliena and their most precious resource – water!

Following the success of our previous case study film for Hitachi, we teamed up with the team for a second time in 2016 to tell a story about a unique community at the heart of a global issue, and the global giant working to save them.

In an engaging docu-style film centring around the people themselves, Brave Spark brought Hitachi's social channels this case-study; meeting Oliena's traditional shepherds, embroiderers, pasta-makers and artisan leather-workers, who quite simply wouldn't exist without the local water supply, and their unique, traditional way of life.

Through a combination of striking drone shots of the natural environment, documentary-style portraits of Oliena's local people, and beauty shots of Su Gologone.

The result of the project? A reduction of water loss by over 50%, and amazingly, the placement of The 'Oliena model' on a list of Italian Best Practices for 2017.

Brave Spark's aim was to bring the human story and critical cross-over between infrastructure and human life to light.

Today, Oliena's amazing traditional communities continue to flourish, and we couldn't feel more privileged to have been able to capture some of this process in action.
